About Me

Thank you again for visiting my website! I teach first grade in Atlanta, Georgia. This is my fourth year teaching overall and my second year at my current school.  I graduated from Michigan State University in 2006 and directly following graduation, moved to Minneapolis and taught upper-el for 2 years there (one year in fifth and another in fourth). After moving to Georgia, I was hesitant at first about teaching little ones, but have found that I love their curiosity and the hilarious things they tell me daily. They are entertaining, that’s for sure! I also teach at a school which has a high refugee and international population, so I have students in my class from Africa, Sudan, Ethiopia, Mexico, Thailand, and Burma. Most of my kids speak English as a second language, and a few speak little to no English at all. It has proved to be incredibly challenging, but also extremely rewarding. I couldn't love my job more!

I got married two summers ago in my hometown of Mount Clemens, MI. Outside of teaching, I love to spend summers at my parents’ cottage in Houghton Lake, MI. I also love to read and travel. My husband, Matt, works for Delta Air Lines and we have been very lucky to be able to travel places I’d never thought I’d go. We have no pets or kids (yet!). We bought a house recently and I'm so excited to be a homeowner.  I can't wait to spend the summer decorating!
